The Etruscan city of Vei  from the early IVth  century, was one of the main city of the Etruscan dodecapolis until the Roman conquest by Furio Camillo. The sanctuary of Portonaccio , one of the oldest and  most  worshiped of all Etruria, rose outside the city, on a tufaceus shelf. It was the result of a complex building  and  cultic affair from the first decade of the VII century a.C. The plateau of the city today part of the wonderful  naturalistic area of the regional park of Veio it’ s sourronded by necropolis, where is located also the  anatre tomb which preserves the oldest funerary painting of Etruria with animals friezes rendered in “cotour line”. We will walk across the enchanting landscape of the archaeological park of Isola Farnese where we will visit  the fascinating remains of the Etruscan city.

At lunch we will stop at the enchanting restaurant  “Antico  Mulino “ an old farmhouse family run immersed in the magic natural park of Veii. Here you will find a local genuine  home-made cuisine  with an exquiste menu ranging from home made fettuccine and ravioli to fresh grilled fish and meat. Price range: 20-30 euros per person.

We will later visit the recently restored archaeological museum of Veio housed in the splendid setting of the Reinassance Palazzo Chigi in the enchanting medieval village of Formello.
