Summary
Aventino, is a site by default “separated” and “in the shade”, if compared to Ancient Rome’s grandeur, the hill of silence and of cloisters. This peculiar atmosphere of suspended time is still present in the modern district, giving way to very evocative corners and views. We will start from Piranesi’s “dreamlike” intervention for the Knights of Malta, to the Torlonia farmhouse, inserted over the ruins of Decius’ Baths and the private residence of Trajan, before becoming an emperor. Then we will talk about the modern district developed for the 1920’s with cottages and “palazzinas”, with exquisite interventions of architects like Michele Busiri Vici, Monaco and Luccichenti, Morandi, Studio Passarelli, together with many others high-level professionals.
